STEP 10  < Previous Step |

After you are sentenced, you may need to do any or all of the following things:

A. Pay a Fine:
If you are given a fine, it is your responsibility to go to the
Accounting Department located in Room 106. They will set up a payment schedule for you.

B. Attend a Drinking Driver Program:
You will be provided with the paperwork for these programs. There are now three  First Offense Drinking Driver Programs (“FODDP”) 1) Wet Reckless; 2) First Offender-3 Month; 3) First Offense-High B.A. or Refusal-6 Month. You must discuss which program is appropriate, with the counselors at the program.

Multiple Offense Drinking Driver Programs (“MOFFP”). This program lasts for a minimum period of 18 months and consists of 12 hours of education, 52 hours of group counseling, 26 individual interviews (15 minutes each), and 6 hours of transition group meeting.

If you are referred to one of these programs, you may be required to complete an enrollment interview within 21 days of the date of your Court referral and failure to do this may result in a notice to the court and the issuance of a warrant for your arrest.

There is a fee for this program. The program will conduct a financial assessment (pursuant to State Regulation) during the intake interview to determine your financial ability and obligations.

It is your responsibility to contact the program you are assigned to, follow through with attending all meetings required and following all the rules of the program. Non-compliance with the program may block reinstatement of your drivers license indefinitely.

Upon successful completion of the program, a Certificate of Completion will be issued.

C. Turn yourself into the Jail:
If you are given a jail sentence, you will be given a “turn-in date”. You are required to turn yourself into the jail on this date. If you do not, a warrant will issue for your arrest. You may qualify for “work release”, which would require you to work for the county instead of spending time in jail.

D. Meet with the Probation Department

If you are sentenced to probation, the court will monitor your progress . If you violate any of the terms of your probation, or fail to make a court appearance, a warrant will issue for your arrest.

During the time of your probation, you may need to request from the court a modification of your sentence. A modification request may include, among other things, a request to change the terms of payment of your fine, i.e., make smaller payments over a longer period of time. (This may require that the court lengthen the time of your probation in order to maintain jurisdiction over your case until you complete all the terms of your sentence).

If you need to make a request for modification from the court, you will go to the Criminal Division of the Clerk's Office and request a Modification Request Form . Some modifications can be granted by the clerk’s office but some requests require the review and approval of the Judge.

Once you have met all the conditions of your sentence, and you have successfully completed your probation period, your probation will be terminated.
