The Family Law Division of the courthouse is responsible for the review, processing, computer data entry and calendaring of legal documents pertaining to family law (dissolutions, legal separations, adoptions, Domestic Violence Restraining Orders, Emancipations , and proceedings to terminate parental rights. They are responsible for customer service over the counter and on the telephone regarding the filing of legal documents, and providing information as to the various family law departments of the courthouse and their operations. The Family Law Facilitator is able to assist unrepresented parties (parties who do not have an attorney) with issues regarding child support and/or spousal support. The facilitator also provides information and assistance with paternity actions, restraining orders, support calculations, and provides general information regarding representing yourself in Family Law and District Attorney child support actions. This position was created by the California Legislature to help people without attorneys better represent themselves in the Family Law Court. The Family Law Facilitator is located in Room 223-J of the main courthouse and services are provided on a first come - first served basis or by referral while attending a hearing on Domestic Orders To Show Cause Calendar. You may receive help from the Family Law Facilitator on the following matters: Child and spousal support orders; support calculations; Orders After Hearing; Wage Assignments information regarding child custody/visitation; paternity actions; information regarding Restraining Orders; general information regarding representing yourself in a family law matter, information regarding district attorney child support actions; Mediation assistance.
