OVERALL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The traffic division is responsible for providing customer service and document processing associated with the adjudication of all adult and juvenile infraction citations, and specified juvenile misdemeanor citations. Within these responsibilities the traffic division processes citations in the following status.
- All non-delinquent adult and juvenile infraction citations.
- All unsigned-delinquent adult infraction citations.
- All delinquent juvenile infraction citations.
- All non-delinquent and delinquent designated(*) juvenile misdemeanor citations.
(*) = General Rules
All misdemeanor traffic violations not involving moderate injury, or substantial restitution (over $250.00)
All blood alcohol violations of .10 or less.
OPERATIONAL UNITS:
The traffic division is divided into three major operational units. These units are identified as the Adult Traffic, Juvenile Traffic, and Traffic Violator School (TVS) units.
Adult Traffic Unit: processes all infraction citations issued to minors (individuals 18 yrs of age thru 20yrs of age) and adults (individuals 21 yrs of age and older). There are four functional divisions of labor within the Adult Traffic Unit, and they are:
- Customer Service - Front counter staff; Windows #1 thru #5
and, TVS Windows #6 & #7.

Court Trial Desk - Processes and maintains all court trial documents and calendars, Bailed and Cited to appear on warrant documents, Inmate request, and Processes court docket sheets generated for Walk-in Court.

Correspondence Desk - Processes all 1st level case associated correspondence; Processes all Trial by Declarations, Motions, and Appeal documents; Receives all incoming division mail and distributes it to the appropriate desk assignment.

Supervisory Staff - Provides staff training and support; Conducts 2nd level customer contacts and document processing; Provides divisional technical support to management and enforcement agencies;
Juvenile Traffic Unit: processes all infraction and specified misdemeanor citations issued to individuals under18 years of age.
Traffic Violator School (TVS) Unit: is staffed and operated by the California Traffic Safety Institute (CTSI), a private contractor to the court. CTSI provides two (2) full time (non-county) employees to staff this unit. ADULT COURT CALENDARS:
Adult infraction arraignment (Walk-in Court) calendars are heard Monday -Thursday at 8:30 AM for non-collection (First Appearance & Unsigned delinquent citations). Sign-up begins at 8:00 AM. A limited number of cases are heard each court day. THERE IS NO COURT ON FRIDAY. Prescheduled adult court trials are heard Tuesday and Wednesday at 10:30 AM each week, except the 3rd week of the month, wherein the Wednesday trial calendar (Night Court) is heard at 5:00 PM.
JUVENILE COURT CALENDARS:
Prescheduled juvenile arraignment hearings are heard on designated dates at 1:30 PM.
Prescheduled juvenile contested citation hearings are heard on designated dates at 3:00 PM

Most citations may be paid by Visa or MasterCard (including TVS fees) by calling this number. A minimum convenience fee of $12.95 is charged by the service provider. You will be advised of your service fee before completing the payment.
